The Southern Highlands Community Foundation announce Maryann Anderson as their latest Highlands Hero.
The Southern Highlands Community Foundation (SHCF) today announced Maryann Anderson of the Yerrinbool Village Group as the latest recipient of their Highlands Heroes award. Maryann has been the driving force behind a series of initiatives aimed at enhancing community connection and pride in Yerrinbool.
Highlands Heroes is an award that recognises and rewards volunteers in our community who work tirelessly for their chosen cause. Winners receive a $5000 grant for their organisation.
Emma Calver, SHCF Chair of External Relations said,
“Maryann and the Yerrinbool Village Group are a wonderful example of the impact that grass roots organisations can have on community wellbeing. She has been such driving force in Yerrinbool over the past 7 years, with initiatives like the Railway Garden, regular art/craft sessions and monthly group lunches instilling a deep sense of pride and connection. These initiatives, aimed at reducing social isolation and encouraging residents to communicate, contribute and participate are what really stood out to us.”
Though initiatives like Highlands Heroes the SHCF aims to shine a light onto areas of need within our community and have positive impact on the causes that each of our Highlands Heroes represent.
The search for Highlands Heroes continues thanks to the Medich Foundation
The SHCF recently announced that Highlands Heroes will be sponsored by the Medich Foundation over the next three years. The Medich Foundation has a long history of supporting philanthropic organisations and communities and the SHCF is thrilled to begin this relationship.
Highlands Heroes nominations are open all year round with the judging looking for volunteers who have contributed to the betterment of their organisation and/or its services and have made a difference in our community.
